dentinoblast (plural dentinoblasts)

  1. A mesenchymal cell in which dentin is formed
    Synonym: odontoblast
    • 1898, Louis John Rettger, Studies in Advanced Physiology, page 273:
      As soon as the enamel crown begins to arise in the way just indicated, cells appear immediately next to the enamel. These cells, called dentinoblasts, or by others odontoblasts, secrete a matrix which hardens at once into the ivory.
