From the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Late Latin dichotomos, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek διχότομος (dikhótomos, “cut in half”), from δίχα (díkha, “apart”) + τέμνω (témnō, “I cut”).
