[edit]Used informally in the context of "newscast", as a clipping of the longer phrase televizijski dnevnik. Likely calque of similar names in Romance speaking countries, specifically telegiornale, téléjournal, telejornal, telediario, all meaning "television journal" or "television diary", with the two considered to be synonyms in Serbo-Croatian.
