Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish طقسان (doksan, “ninety”) from Proto-Turkic *tokuŕ ōn (literally “nine tens”). By surface analysis, dokuz (“nine”) + on (“ten”).
Cognate with Azerbaijani doxsan, Kazakh тоқсан (toqsan), Kyrgyz токсон (tokson), Tuvan тозан (tozan), Yakut тоҕус уон (toğus uon), etc.
