From födelse (“birth”) + ort (“inhabited place”).

- the birthplace which someone is physically born at, usually the city of the hospital, in contrast to födelsehemort (the place someone lives when they are born)
Usage notes[edit]
A broad term often used in professional or official context when describing someone's birth origin. Favoured over narrower terms such as födelsestad (birth town).
