[edit]13th century (sofaldrar). From Gothic đđ°đ»đžđ°đœ (falĂŸan), from Proto-Germanic *falĂŸanÄ (âto foldâ). Cognate with Portuguese fralda and falda, with Spanish falda and with English fold.
