Franco-Provençal

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed from French générer.

Verb

[edit]

g·ènèrar

  1. to generate

Notes

[edit]

In words where virtually every dialect has the sounds [ʃ] or [ʒ], these may be indicated with an optional interpunct: ⟨ch·⟩ for [ʃ], ⟨g·⟩ or ⟨j·⟩ for [ʒ]. This is generally the case for recent borrowings from French. In native words ⟨ch⟩, ⟨g⟩ (before front vowels), and ⟨j⟩ stand for a variety of sounds that vary by dialect.
