Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Albanian *gungā, from Proto-Indo-European *geng-, *gong- (“lump”). Identical with Lithuanian gùnga (“hump, hunchback, ball, clump”), gùnginti (“go slowly, from a humped going person”), and cognate with Latin gingiva (“gum”).[1]
