hemianope (plural hemianopes)

  1. (medicine) One who has hemianopia; one who could only see half of their visual field.
    • 1901, The Ophthalmic Review, volume 20, page 60:
      The real explanation probably is that, in the case of a right hemianope, for example, the sensory impulse inviting movement to the right is reduced to a minimum, and therefore the corresponding expenditure of motor nerve power required to induce the eyes to move in the blind direction is greater than is normal.
