Etymology

This word, along with many other surf slang words and phrases, originated with the Spanish jodido. There were a number of great young Hispanic surfers in SoCal in the late 50's and early 60's, and their slang was modified into surf lexicon. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)

Noun

hodad (plural hodads)

  1. (surfing, slang) Someone who comes to the beach and has a surfboard, but never surfs.
