Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Germanic *hreuþaną, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(s)ker- (to cut).[1]

Verb[edit]

hrjóða (singular past indicative hrauð, plural past indicative hruðu, past participle hroðinn)

  1. to unload
  2. to strip, disable
  3. (impersonal, with dative) to clear away
    mun hroðit myrkvanum
    the fog will have cleared away
