  1. An enclosed space such as a room or cell.
  2. (figuratively) A work of fiction (film, novel, etc.) in which the action is set in an enclosed space. Examples in film Darkness Falls, Death and the Maiden
  3. (by extension) A genre in fiction where dramatic tension is derived from the action being set in an enclosed space.
