- Tuj1 immunohistochemistry showed the proximal colon appeared normally ganglionated (Fig 5A and 5Ai ) progressing distally to the hypoganglionated region of transition zone (Fig 5A and 5Aii ) and to the distal-most bowel, which, although showing innervation by extrinsic fibres, lacks an intrinsic ENS (Fig 5A and 5Aiii ).
