[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-y(i/u)p. Cognate with Burmese အိပ် (ip, “to sleep”), Jingpho yup (“to sleep”), Khroskyabs jə̂v (“to sleep”) and Nuosu ꀀ (it, “to sleep, to reside”). Compare with Lhao Vo yhab , Zaiwa yvap, and Luxi Achang ʑit⁵⁵.
