Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From këputë (sole).[1] Other proposals include: 1) Camarda, from Greek παπούτσι (papoútsi). 2) Meyer, from Turkish papuç pabuç, from Ottoman Turkish پاپوش(papush), from Persian پاپوش(papush), although these are less probable as they are reflected already in Albanian papuçë.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /kəˈput͡s(ə)/
  • Hyphenation: kë‧pu‧cë (or) kë‧pucë

Noun[edit]

këpucë f (indefinite plural këpucë, definite singular këpuca, definite plural këpucët)

  1. shoe
  2. boot
