Etymology

Derived from Ottoman Turkish قالبور اوستنه گلمك (kalbur üstüne gelmek, literally to stay at the top of the sieve)[1] (whence also قالبور اوستنه گلن (kalbur üstüne gelen, literally what stays at the top of the sieve))[2] equivalent to kalbur (sieve, screen) +‎ üst (top, upper) +‎ (possessive suffix).
