Etymology

A later borrowing from a South Slavic language, compare Serbo-Croatian kòsa (scythe) and Bulgarian коса (kosa, scythe). Ultimately derived from Proto-Slavic *kosa (scythe). Non-Slavic cognates include Greek κόσα (kósa), Romanian coasă, and Hungarian kasza.[1][2][3]
