From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latvian dialectal from guņģis (“belly”) by dissimilation, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *geng- (“lump”), from the stem *gen- (“to squeeze, to make (something) round”). See also Latvian dziedzeris (“gland”).[1]
