Uncertain. Compare Gothic 𐌺𐌿𐌽𐌰𐍅𐌹𐌳𐌰 (kunawida) and Old English cynewiþþe. The element kuonio- of the synonym kuoniowid is not etymologically identical; the exact development is unclear.
