  1. (historical, rare) A period in Swedish history characterized by autocratic monarchy, starting with the change of constitution in the year 1772 and ending with the loss of Finland to Russia, which was followed by a constitutional reform in 1809.

Usage notes[edit]

More frequently called kustavilainen aika or Kustavilainen aika, which is also the term preferred by the historians.
