From Old Galician-Portuguese lampada, borrowed from Late Latin lampada, from Latin lampas, from Ancient Greek λαμπάς (lampás, lamp or flambeau), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek λάμπω (lámpō, I shine). Compare the inherited Old Portuguese form lampaa.
