  1. (botany) Three-dimensional, narrow at both ends with the widest part below the middle.
    • 1987 December, “Carex socialis (Cyperaceae): A New Record for the Atlantic Coastal Plain”, in Castanea[1], volume 52, number 4, page 311:
      Carex rosea generally has ovoid-lanceoloid perigynia with a length-width ratio of 2.0-2.5:1, and is non-rhizomatous as well.
