Etymology

From Hindi लंगर (laṅgar), (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Punjabi ਲੰਗਰ (laṅgar, public kitchen, almshouse), and their source, Persian لنگر (public eating-place attached to Sufi shrine). Doublet of anchor.
