Learned borrowing from Cebuano lungsod (town).[1] Said to be introduced by Eusebio T. Daluz in 1915,[2][3] one of the founders of the Akademya ng Wikang Pilipino (Academy of the Filipino Language), one of the predecessors of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) (Commission on the Filipino Language).
