Old Czech

Etymology

[edit]

The word probably shares its root with the words lehký (from Proto-Slavic *lьgъkъ). Proto-Slavic *lьdzě is probably a dative or locative case of the noun *lьga.[1] Compare Russian нельзя (nelʹzja).
