Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Vietic *mɔːlʔ (“human being”); cognate with Thanh Hóa Muong mɔːn⁴, Sơn La Muong mɔːə⁴, Tho mɔːn⁴ ("a subgroup of the Tho") and Vietnamese mọi (“barbarian”).
Partially displaced by Mường as an endonym.
