marimbaphone (plural marimbaphones)
- (obsolete, music) A kind of percussion idiophone, like the marimba, but with either wooden or steel keys designed to be bowed as well as played normally, developed by J.C. Deagan in early 20th century United States.
Usage notes[edit]
In musical scores, such as for orchestral music, the word marimbaphone often refers to the normal marimba rather than the other instrument more precisely known as the marimbaphone.
