metapodiale (plural metapodialia)

  1. (anatomy) One of the bones of either the metacarpus or metatarsus.
    • 1907, William Corless Mills, Explorations of the Edwin Harness mound, page 56:
      The bone usually employed in making the needle was the metapodiale bone of the deer and elk.
