Etymology[edit]
mui- + -kku; a diminutive derivation of muja-, from which muikea and muje are also derived.[1]
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
muikku
- vendace, Coregonus albula (Eurasian species of fish in the Salmonidae family)
- Used also of some closely related North-American Coregonus species called cisco, usually as part of a compound term as in amerikanmuikku (“Coregonus artedi”).
