Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *na-ŋ. Cognate with Burmese နင် (nang), Old Chinese (OC *njaʔ), Jingpho nang and Nuosu (ne). Compare Zaiwa nang and Lhao Vo nao.
