newgroup (third-person singular simple present newgroups, present participle newgrouping, simple past and past participle newgrouped)

  1. (Internet, transitive) To create (a newsgroup on Usenet) by sending a special control message.
    • 1998, Carla G. Surratt, Netlife: Internet citizens and their communities (page 75)
      If the group passes, it will be newgrouped after five days. If the group fails, it can't be voted on again for six months.
    • 2000, "Harlock", I'm newgrouping alt.binaries.tv.millennium today! (on newsgroup alt.config)
