    1. Not a cause.
      The subsequent investigation found the earlier inadequate maintenance to be inappropriate but noncausative.
    2. Not involving, or affected by, causality.
      Such statistical analysis can establish correlation but cannot tell us whether the correlation is proximally causative, distally causative, or noncausative.
