Etymology

Ultimately from modern (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin ornithologia, coined by Ulisse Aldrovandi from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek ὀρνιθολόγος (ornithológos),[1] from ὄρνις (órnis) and λόγος (lógos) with the suffix -ία (-ía) (Latvian -ija).
