Borrowed from Ancient Greek παρασύνθεσις (parasúnthesis).

parasynthesis (countable and uncountable, plural parasyntheses)

  1. (grammar) The formation of words by a combination of compounding and adding an affix, as in brown-eyed.
  2. (grammar) In many languages: The formation of words in which the prefixing and the suffixing are involved simultaneously (as in amueblar (to furnish) in Spanish, dératiser (to derat) in French, anoitecer (to get dark) in Portuguese)
