Inherited from Malay pecah, from Classical Malay ڤچه (pecah), from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *pəcəq (break into several large pieces; to hatch, of an egg), from Proto-Austronesian *pəcəq (break into several large pieces). Cognate with Tagalog pisa and Hawaiian hoa.
