Etymology
From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *po/ait- (“gown, cloak”), an enlargement with the suffix -kë. Cognate with Gothic 𐍀𐌰𐌹𐌳𐌰 (paida, “tunic, shirt”) and Ancient Greek βαίτε (baíte). A loanword from Gothic is also phonetically possible. Orel considers it a derivation from petë, reconstructing Proto-Albanian *patika.[1]
