Finnish[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Literally in/on a long sight (in a weapon). Probably a mistranslation of Swedish på lång sikt, with sikt (“sight, view”) being confused with sikte (“sight (in a weapon)”).
Phrase[edit]
Usage notes[edit]
It is recommendable to say pitkällä tähtäyksellä instead as "tähtäin" means the sight of a weapon.
