Etymology

Borrowed from German Poliomyelitis, from the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek πολιός (poliós, grey) +‎ μυελός (muelós, marrow) +‎ -ῖτις (-îtis, -itis). Compare the French poliomyélite.
