polyacetylene (plural polyacetylenes)

  1. (organic chemistry) Any of a class of organic compounds containing a acetylene (-C≡C-) repeat units, especially any that occur naturally in some composite plants.
  2. (organic chemistry) A black polymer, derived from acetylene, containing alternating single and double bonds in a (-CH=CH-) repeat unit; it is an organic semiconductor.
