1. Any of the marbles located within a shallow hole (or "pot") used in certain variants of the game.

     Also, it encouraged long hours of practice to develop skill. Otherwise you would lose even your potsies to a better player.

   • 2020, Kaye Bennett Dotson, The Value of Games: Putting Play Back into Practice for Children, page 103:

     The first player shoots from behind the shooting line toward the pot in an attempt to knock a potsie from the pot. If he fails to accomplish this, the second player then shoots, and so forth until all players have shot.
