From Late Latin practicus, from Ancient Greek πρᾱκτῐκός (prāktikós, pertaining to an action), derived from πρᾱγ- (prāg-), the root of πρᾱ́σσω (prā́ssō, to do) + -τῐκός (-tikós, verbal adjective suffix).
