Portuguese

Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese prazer, from Latin placēre, present active infinitive of placeō, with an irregular phonetic development concerning the initial consonant cluster; compare Spanish placer. It was also used as a verb, meaning "to please" (see aprazer).
