pseudo- +‎ fever

Noun

[edit]

pseudofever (usually uncountable, plural pseudofevers)

  1. (medicine) A high body temperature that resembles, but is not in fact, a fever.
    • 2017, Randall Fisher, Thomas G. Boyce, Armando G. Correa, Moffet's Pediatric Infectious Diseases:
It is best to consider these as mild temperature elevations, possibly due to autonomic instability, and not label these as fevers. As with other forms of pseudofever, the treatment is to stop measuring the patient's temperature.
