Etymology
Perhaps from Proto-Turkic *kān- (“to be satisfied”). Probably cognate with Turkish kanmak (“to believe; to be satisfied”), Turkmen ganmak (“to satisfy one's thirst; to study, master”). Related to qanacaq (“consciousness; politeness”).
