Etymology

Perhaps from Proto-Turkic *kān- (to be satisfied). Probably cognate with Turkish kanmak (to believe; to be satisfied), Turkmen ganmak (to satisfy one's thirst; to study, master). Related to qanacaq (consciousness; politeness).
