    Verb

    [edit]

relabel (third-person singular simple present relabels, present participle (US) relabeling or (UK) relabelling, simple past and past participle (US) relabeled or (UK) relabelled)

    1. To label again; to apply a new label to.
    2. To label differently; to label with something else.

    Usage notes

    [edit]
    • In a strict sense, relabel merely refers to applying a new label, whether or not that label differs from the old one (for example, when replacing a damaged price sticker). However, it is commonly used to imply that the new label will differ in some fashion.
