saddle stitch (plural saddle stitches)

1. A stitch used in leatherworking where pieces of leather are joined by two threads alternating.
2. A way of stapling printed booklets where the centre of the fold is placed across the saddle of the stitcher and then wire staples are driven through and clinched on the inside.
