[edit]From Proto-Albanian * ̊peri-, from Proto-Indo-European *per- (“to bear, lead across, penetrate”). Cognate to Ancient Greek πείρω (peírō, “to get through, pierce”).[3]
Alternatively reconstructed as from Proto-Albanian *eś-per-, from PIE *eǵʰs- (“out”) + *pi-pér- (“to bring out”).[4]
