    Inherited from Proto-Iranian *cwaytáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćwaytás, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱweyt-. Cognate to Avestan 𐬯𐬞𐬀𐬉𐬙𐬀 (spaēta), Sanskrit श्वेत (śvetá).
