  1. (US) A building in which tobacco is stemmed.
    • 1901 April 12, “District Reports”, in The Agricultural Journal and Mining Record[1], volume 4, number 3, page 68:
      Good progress is being made with the arrangements for the establishment of a stemmery for tobacco-leaf at Wangaratta, and the Government expert, Mr.. A. J. Bondurant, expects that he will be able to commence the work of stemming shortly after the new year.
