From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Finno-Ugric *ćaδa (run, to run) or perhaps from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Uralic *śaδa-[1] + -ad (frequentative suffix). See the same root in szalaszt and szalajt.[2]
